It may come as no surprise that the kind of master’s programs offered in the different continents in the world come with one big, specific caveat: they can differ in terms of curriculum, teaching methods and admission requirements. Such is the case of continents like Europe and North America. The end goal may be the same, but their differences are enough to take notice before deciding to pick one.

One of the bigger things that differentiate the master’s programs in Europe compared to American ones is that the European programs last only a year., whereas the American one can stretch over a period of a year and a half to two years. This is due to American programs sometime requiring an mid-term internship, which extends the time of education, whereas in Europe an internship is usually recommended but not obligated. Also, there are some programs only available in American master’s programs compared to Europe.

While the teaching methodology of both the American and European master’s programs can both be considered equally good with great emphasis on maximum knowledge and experience, anecdotally speaking, it is said that American master’s educational experience is considered to be more practical, while European teaching methodology is considered to be something more theoretical.
